‘Ikara-thadi Ngukandha’- Travelling to Ikara (1)
hand pressed oil print & acrylic on Japanese archival paper
50 x 50 cm
These prints are of Vinba, which grows prevalently in the Central Flinders Ranges around Ikara Wilpena. Vinba was used by Adnyamathanha people in a variety of ways, including for shelter and cultural items such as tools and implements. The background design (acrylic) represents cultural knowledge. I travel regularly to my Country, the Flinders Ranges, to connect to my culture and identity, visit our cultural sites, and learn cultural knowledge from my Vapi (Dad), Nguarli’s (grandfathers) and Nganarma’s (uncles).
