Walking Alone
acrylic on canvas
59 x 72 cm
This work comes from my lived experience of being left out—of family, community, and friendships that were once meant to feel like home. It holds the weight of walking alone through the world, technically homeless, carrying everything internally while moving through external distance and silence. It speaks to the ache of trying to find companionship and love, while repeatedly being pushed out of relationships, spaces, and connections I believed were safe. Each rejection reshaped my understanding of belonging, and each departure forced me to keep walking anyway. This piece is not just about loss—it’s about endurance. About what it means to continue existing when the places and people you trusted no longer hold you. It reflects the tension between wanting to be chosen and learning how to survive without being chosen. At its core, it is about visibility in invisibility—being present in a world that keeps turning you away, and still choosing to move forward, still searching for connection, still refusing to disappear.
