This work is my Ngarrindjeri interpretation of the Kondoli story, expressed through dots, symbols, and pathways that connect land, sea, sky, and community. Kondoli carried fire to bring people together — a gift that created gathering places, shared stories, and strengthened cultural life along the coastline. When jealousy led to his spearing, Kondoli fled to the ocean and transformed into the whale, his fire rising into the night sky as stars. His journey reminds us of law, sharing, and resilience. Through this painting, I honour the enduring presence of Kondoli in Ngarrindjeri Country and keep his story alive for future generations.
